The Volkswagen e-Up! concept was first introduced at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. 4 years later, at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen unveiled the production ready version of the electric Up!.
Volkswagen e-Up! Availability
The e-Up! isn’t slated to end up in North America, but it is widely available in Europe already.
On December 2nd, Volkswagen UK announced the e-Up! was available for purchase with the first deliveries expected before the end of January 2014.
On January 3rd, 2014, AutoExpress reported that deliveries of the Volkswagen electric Up! would begin in February.
Volkswagen debuted the e-Up! in it’s home country in October 2013.
On sale since October 2013, 286 had been sold in the first 2 months on the market!
The VW e-Up! is on sale and available nationwide.
The Volkswagen e-Up! sold 24 units in November 2013 and is currently available nationwide.
The e-Up! went on sale in November 2013, and sold 16 times in the first month on the market.
The Volkswagen e-Up! is available in Italy.
According to an article from November 2013 on CleanTechnica.com, the e-Up! is likely to be offered in the US within a year. No references are given, so it could just be a personal opinion based on nothing. On the other hand, we’d like to think the e-Up! could make it across the pond to EV lovers in the US and Canada.
In conjunction with the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, Volkswagen has announced the e-Up! electric vehicle will be launched in the China Car Market in the second half of the year. Since the e-Up! will initially be imported into the country (rather than being built in the country), buyers won’t receive any green-car subsidies. Volkswagen plans to build the EV in China starting in early 2016, which will lower the price from 250.000 yuan to 160.000 yuan. (source: Car News China)
